Mail Order Plants
We are pleased to present this list of interesting and less usual garden plants for mail order. Almost all the plants are grown in a commercial coir compost to insure rapid establishment. Unless stated they should all be planted weather permitting as soon as possible.
All are of generous size, usual nursery quality, not flimsy plugs

  • The plants are listed with a brief description, the pot size is in Italics and the price is in bold type.

  • Delivery by 24 hour carrier
  • Should any plant not be up to specification upon receipt please let us know immediately, we will not accept responsibility at a later date.
  • The list is valid until 31st March 2003, the last date at which plants will be packed and sent out weather permitting.
  • The full nursery directory is available for £1-00 (by coin or 5 x 2nd class stamps). This details all the plants propogated and sold by the nursery, however not all the plants are suitable to be posted and some are available at other times of the year. AGAPANTHUS
Navy Blue
A new form famed for its free flowering even at an early age. Compact habit and dark blue coloured flowers. Excellent in tubs or the border . Not requiring good soils but should be allowed to become pot bound if grown in pots

Perennial hollyhock with large lemon yellow flowers. Best in sun or very light shade in good soils. Makes a shrubby growth habit up to around 4' high

ANGELICA gigas

AQUILEGIA chrysantha (Wild Form)

HEMEROCALLIS American Revolution
Quite one of the most amazing "day lilies" we have come across for its dark chocolate blood red coloured flowers. (Difficult to describe) Hardy herbaceous perennial requiring a sunny site to flower well and average soils . £9-00 1.5 ltr pots

HOSTA plantaginea var. japonica (agm) (syn:grandiflora)
Late into growth, so possibly missing the slugs who have taken to other tastes. This hosta has veined lime green foliage and, late in the season the most amazing large and strongly scented white flowers, easily 3" or more long. Well worth the effort. Stunning in pots £4-00 Bare rooted plant.

HOSTA Sum and Substance
One of the more distinct varieties we grow. Magnificent large golden foliage even in sun. 3' tall and the same across. Large pale lavender white flowers in mid season. Also excellent in a tub. £4-00 Bare rooted plant.



IMPERATA cylindrica rubra (syn: 'Red Baron' )
This recent introduction is certainly one of the most striking of the non- invasive ornamental hardy grasses. Red tipped foliage catches the sun and lights up like stained glass. Best is good soils, not wet. Sun or Light Shade, 16" high £3-00 9cm pots

INCARVILLEA delavayii Bees Pink

Seldom seen "Red Scabious". A very effective hardy perennial with maroon red flowers. Sun average soil. Flower stems up to 2'. An unusual colour for the mixed border. Excellent long flowering perennial £4-00 14cm pots



LYSIMACHIA ephemerum
Hardy herbaceous perennial with dark green grey foliage. Branching stems of white star like flowers are produced from late May onwards. Good for difficult soils in sun or part shade. 3' high, taller in good soils. £3-50 14cm pots

LIBERTIA grandiflora
Iris like slender green foliage is the base for the long stems of white starry flowers produced from May onwards. Good in gravel beds and as an architectural change of form in the mixed border. Sun 2' £3-00 9cm pots

LIGULARIA dentata 'Perpurea'
Daisy like flowers in bold yellow contrast the large foliage which is purple green in colour. For a good soil, in sun. Can also be grown in marginal sites. Height 2'6" foliage and up to 4' flowering stem £3-00 9cm pots


MATTHIOLA incana alba (perennial white stock)
Uncommon hardy small shrub with highly perfumed white flowers from Spring through Summer. Ideal for tubs, window boxes or the garden. Sun and average even poor soil £3-50 14cm pots

Easily the most impressive foliage of any herbaceous plant that can be grown outside in the UK. Great in tubs too. Mature stems should be planted deep in Sun or light shade. 1m These plants should be overwintered and planted out in May 2003. £4-50 9cm pots
